Ukulele School and Tips for Beginners

The Blues Scale on Ukelele

A Simple Scale in C Tone.

The guitar with its six strings is a polyphonic instrument, the ukulele is not!. The sounds of the notes remain separate without overlapping. If we cannot achieve similar sounds in stumming, but by playing single notes (which is easier in the ukelele) we will be able to compensate with simple fingerpicking the limits of the instrument with pleasant riff and melodies. With the ukulele the approach to music is different!.

Lets now give to our blues, a bit of moving with a series of simple notes, that will introduce us to blues scales, and a little fingerpicking.
Four simple notes to play, then we go on the G chord we know.

C - Eb - F - Gb - G - Bb - C - Bb - G - Gb - F - Eb - C

Improvisation on Blues Scale.

Play the audio file,
Its a loop of a simple blues in A key, using the chords A7, E7, and B7.
Now, meantime try improvising a solo, using the notes of the scale that you can see in the pic.

You will find that the notes of the blues scale match the intonation of the song almost as if it were an autotune.
